How does Light Therapy work?
The effect of light therapy is relatively simple.
Light of different wavelengths is transmitted to the skin. These wavelengths vary between 400 and 700 nanometers and thus penetrate differently deep into the individual skin layers.
Thus, different effects can be achieved.
Blue light, for example, with a shorter wavelength, is particularly suitable for attacking bacteria and thus treating Acne.
Red light, on the other hand, with a longer wavelength penetrates deeper into the skin, stimulates blood circulation and can therefore boost collagen production.
How to achieve the best results?
The device is very effective on its own but you will achieve the best results when used with a moisturizing mask or creme.
Suitable for all skin types, add this LED Mask to the last step of your beauty routine. Finish off your treatments with a Hyaluronic Acid serum to elevate your anti-ageing results.
We have answers!
When can I expect visible results?
Every skin is different. And everybody starts at a different level. Therefore the effects pretty much depend also on your skin condition at the start of using Light therapy.
In general from our experience, you will be able you notice first visible results after only 4 weeks. However to be able to fully review the effects of Light therapy, you should be consistent for at least 8 weeks.
Can I combine different treatments?
Yes you definately can. Just make sure you follow all recommended tips. You should still be careful to not overexpose your skin to light within a tight timefrage.
However, if you spred your tretment sessions within the week or at least a few days apart, there should be no problem. In contrary, this is how you allow your skin to relax a bit before a new skincare treatment.
What areas can be targeted?
While LED light therapy can technically be used on any part of the body, its most popular use is for the face. Skin damage tends to occur to your face because it’s exposed to the elements more than other body parts.
LED therapy can also be used on the neck and chest, which are other areas that tend to show signs of aging.
Is Light Therapy safe to use?
After being taught how sun exposure is bad for our skins; it feels kind of wrong to choose light therapy for skin treatments. Yes, these might be true in reference to ultraviolet light. Light therapy however does emit LED Light and hence does not radiate UV Light. This has been confirmed by skin experts like facialists, dermatologists, beauty editors, and the American Academy of Dermatology.
In comparison with other types of treatments like peels, dermabrasion and laser therapy the LED light therapy doesn’t result in any scorches.
There might be some side effects but are very rare, such as inflammation, redness, etc.
Being proactive is a virtue, so please take into consideration once your skin is treated with light therapy it is extra sensitive to further treatments. (e.g. retinol, Accutane, etc.)
Are there any risks or sideeffects?
Light therapy in general is considered a safer option for skin treatments due to its absence of UV Light. This method makes it less skin invasive and less risky to use.
Furthermore, it may be applied to all kinds of skin tones and conditions and still won't cause burnings, pain or long-term damage.
However, some risks can never be excluded.
Substances used for skincare such as Accutane, Vitamin A or C, retinol or other kinds of chemical peelings have already affected the sensitivity of your skin and should not be used in direct combination with Light therapy.
In addition, sunlight should be avoided after treatments.
If you are already under medical treatment, in an active rash or deal with severe skin conditions such as psoriasis, please consult your doctor for an expert’s advice.
Side effects are very rare, but if you notice any of the following symptoms get in touch with your doctor:
- increased inflammation
- redness
- rash
- pain
- tenderness
- Hives
Who should NOT use Light Therapy?
Yes if you belong to following categories you should not use it:
- Pregnant women
- Babies and children
- Anyone who is feeling unwell
- People with epilepsy
- People with thyroid disorders
- People who are allergic to light
If you experience any discomforts during use, please stop using it immediately and consult your doctor.
